BM0180: Identify a Real-world Event/ Issue that has an Impact on Any One Country: International Business Assignment, NYP, Singapore

Learning Outcomes

 After the completion of this project, learners will be able to:

1. identify at least 3 relevant articles in the International Business (IB) environment, specifically in the areas of PESTEL
2. discuss the implications (challenges and opportunities) of a real-world event in the global business environment to the country and its businesses
3. understand the importance of keeping abreast with the world’s affairs that are constantly evolving in the international business environment
4. develop analytical skills to draw a meaningful conclusion for IB project work.

Requirements

The is an individual assignment. Each learner is required to:

1. Identify a real-world event/ issue that has an impact on any one country and its business environment. This real-world event/issue has occurred within the recent six (6) months and is still evolving in the global business environment. An example of a topic is “Global warming [real world issue] and its impact on business sustainability practices in China [Country]”. Another example of a topic is “Hong Kong protest and its impact on Singapore’s financial sector [Country]. Seek approval for your topic from the respective tutors by end of week 4.
2. Select at least 3 related articles to the event/issue in the global business environment through extensive research using articles database from EIU, major newspapers, magazines, and international organization. Please do not use blog posts as a source. By doing so, learners are summarizing others’ opinions, and this will not help to synthesize their own insights. Please identify the articles.
3. Conduct a review of the selected articles. During the review, learners are to read selected articles and highlight at least 3 key insights specifically in the areas of PESTEL factors with a key focus on the international business environment. On the topic of “Global warming [real world issue] and its impact on business sustainability practices in China [Country]”. An example of how you can highlight political factor after reading your selected articles is given as follows: “6 articles are reviewed about the issue of global warming in the international business environment. The articles are identified as [1] to [6] in the reference list. Article [1], [3], [5], and [6] highlight the importance of the role of political leaders to shape business policies in their respective countries. In the US, … In France, … In China, … In ASEAN, leaders have even gone as far as to commit towards a common 2020 energy efficiency goal. It can be inferred that having a good relationship between neighbors in the 5-point political framework is a prerequisite in driving the global business environment towards ethical business sustainability practices
4. Discuss your own views/ assessment on the possible implications (challenges and opportunities) of the event on 1) the country, and 2) its’ businesses. Learners are to research, collate information, and statistics to substantiate their view/ assessment independently.
