Assessment 2: COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS & REFLECTION
Overview
The COVID-19 pandemic has shaken the world, bringing unprecedented challenges to many. The repercussions of this ongoing crisis are far-reaching. Experts warn of the disproportionate impact on vulnerable groups like the poor, children, women, minorities, persons with disabilities, and refugees.
At SMU, the Lien Centre for Social Innovation (LCSI) is planning to launch a research project to study ways to help vulnerable communities recover from the trauma of COVID-19. The researchers have found two articles on recovery from traumatic events:
• Kaufman, S.B. (2020, April 20). Post-traumatic growth: Finding meaning and creativity in adversity.
Scientific American Blog. https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/beautiful-o minds/post-traumatic growth-finding-meaning-and-creativity-in-adversity/
• Weir, K. (2020, June 1). Life after COVID-19: Making space for growth. Monitor on Psychology, 51(4). https://www.apa.org/monitor/2020/06/covid-life-after
They have asked you to do a comparative analysis of the articles and recommend the better article to form the basis of their research. You should make your decision based on which article has stronger arguments
and evidence.
Once you have finished your analysis and research, write a memo to the research team at LCSI to persuade the researchers that the article you have chosen is the better one to use for their research project.
