The aim of this assessment is to apply the fundamental principles and issues of operations management to design a comprehensive supply chain for a ‘start-up’ entrepreneurial organisation that is organising to bring a new product and/or service to market.

Instruction
You are to conduct research on 1) the product or service and 2) industry. Thereafter, you are to prepare a report to address the following:

1. Draw a map of and describe the supply chain for your organisation’s product(s) – include all organisations and supplies (upstream and downstream) in the supply chain (real world organisations that will be supplying to your organisation. Indicate the URL of the real world organisations when it is mentioned in the report.).
2. Identify all first and second tier suppliers. Are there any third tier suppliers?
3. Identify and discuss the challenges in the supply chain of your start-up? Suggest possible alternatives to the identified challenges.
4. Identify and discuss the key functions of the supply chain.
5. Identify and discuss relevant Order Winners and Order Qualifiers.
6. Identify and discuss core competencies in the organisation’s operation and supply chain.
7. Discuss the value created by this supply chain for the organisation and product/service.
