Question
Identify an intact, competitive sports team of your choice (e.g. tennis doubles team, soccer team). Assess, teach and evaluate the application of mental skills via this mini-project:
(a) Using a validated and reliable profiling scale or tool, assess the team’s mental skills or factors that are known to influence sporting performance. Summarise the assessment results and identify this particular team’s weakest skill or factor.
NOTE: Make sure that you justify your choice of scale or tool based on empirical research studies. (Word limit: 300 words)
(b) For the weakest mental skill or factor identified in (a) above, develop TWO (2) different intervention methods for the purpose of performance enhancement. Justify your answer with support from relevant evidence-based research. (Word limit: 450 words)
(c) Based on the intervention methods established from (b) above, outline a detailed lesson plan (with relevant PowerPoint™ slides and handouts) of how you would prepare a half-hour mini-workshop on any ONE (1) mental skill or technique. (Word limit: 450 words)
(d) Evaluate the perceived effectiveness of the mental skill or technique used by the team of athletes using a quantitative survey method. (Word limit: 300 words)
