Objective:

To conduct a qualitative life cycle assessment (LCA) of a product with the view of promoting a general understanding of the environmental impact of the product from sourcing of the materials, manufacture, usage, disposal, and recycling back to useful materials.

Tasks

2.1  Group LCA Product Selection

This assignment will be done in a group of no more than 4 students (minimum of 3 students). Groups must be formed in the first 2 weeks of classes. Students who do not have a group to join must inform the lecturer as soon as possible.

Although the assessment is qualitative, provide as much detail as you reasonably can.  The topic for the assignment has to be approved, as detailed below:

After consulting with your group, propose a product for which you will carry out your LCA. Each group must work on a different product and the specific product has to be approved before you start. Please post your GROUP NAME and your proposed product by email to the lecturer. Formal approvals will come from the lecturer and be granted on a first come-first served basis.
