• Define the problem.
• Identify the 2 to 3 causes of the problem. Evidence (from news articles, company reports, data obtained from the internet etc) must be provided to justify the cause of the problem.
• Deliverable: Students must be able to write the problem statement and the causes of the problem.

Analysis:

• Need to mention an idea generation technique that you use to generate ideas/solutions to solve the problem.
• Provide at least 3 ideas/solutions with a short description of each idea/solution
• Deliverable: Students must state the idea generation technique used, list and provide a short description of at least 3 ideas/solutions

Question 3

• Use evaluation tools to evaluate each idea/solution generated from question 2
• Suggested tools used include advantages/disadvantages table; cost/benefit analysis, constructing a decision matrix to evaluate all the ideas/solutions.
• Deliverable: Students are allowed to use a variety of evaluation tools to evaluate each of their ideas. OR o to construct a decision matrix and use this one tool to evaluate all your ideas/solutions.

Question 4

• Select 1 or 2 solutions that you would like to implement to solve the problem.
• Give reasons for your choice.
• What are the factors that influence your decision-making process? [material is found in session 10: common biases and errors, intuition, individual difference and organisational constraints]
• Select 1 implementation strategy [covered in session 11] to implement your solution/s
• Deliverable:
• The student will select either 1 or 2 ideas/solutions that they would like to implement and provide reasons. They will write on how they derive at their chosen solution for implementation, are there factors that affect their decision-making process?
• Provide a brief description of your action plan, that is, how to implement your solution.

• Discuss the difficulties/challenges that could be encountered when implementing your ideas/solutions. Do you foresee any resistance to change?
• Deliverable: students need to discuss any difficulties faced or resistance to change when implementing their ideas/solutions.
