Part 2: Essay Question (75 Marks)
With the increase in globalization over the past several decades, people are coming into contact with others from diverse cultural backgrounds more than ever before. What is the best way to deal with group differences in a multicultural community? Should we adopt a colour-blind approach and ignore these differences in favour of focusing on similarities? Or should we adopt a multicultural approach and acknowledge these cultural differences and view them as a source of strength? This is a sensitive and controversial issue that divides societies and psychologists alike (Heine, 2020).
Using relevant research evidence, demonstrate knowledge of cultural psychology and assess whether we should adopt a colour-blind approach and ignore the cultural differences or we should adopt a multicultural approach and acknowledge these cultural differences and view them as a source of strength.
